Executive Director
Rev. David Truluck
Rev. David Truluck, Organizational Co-founder, averages a 0% recidivism rate among post-release graduates and a 9% post-release non-graduates. As Executive Director, David oversees strategic planning, program execution, employee supervision, and fundraising. David leads various programs including Celebrate Recovery, Cognitive Learning 101 (Sustain the Change), Healing for Damaged Emotions/of Memories, and provides chaplaincy support. David's passion is helping men learn and grow in their spiritual journey. David also engages and works with various community partners such as law enforcement and state service agencies, other nonprofit organizations, employers, churches, and volunteers.

Re-Entry Coordinator
Michael Arnold
Michael Arnold is a highly experienced and dedicated professional with over 25 years of continuing expertise in the field of Corrections, Evidence-based Programming and Reentry Services. His goal is to contribute significantly to enhancing the programs and services offered at SHIELD Ministries, ensuring crisis stabilization and rehabilitation needs are met constantly. Michael is also a Certified Anger Management Specialist and a SMART Recovery Facilitator.

William Jupena
William Jupena brings executive management expertise combined with the discipline and dedication of his military service. As a veteran, William understands the value of resilience, perseverance, and teamwork. He is deeply passionate about walking alongside men in their re-entry journey, providing both practical guidance and encouragement as they rebuild their lives. William’s heart for service is evident in his commitment to helping men overcome barriers, discover their potential, and create sustainable paths forward .

Operations Management Assistant
Kayla Crosby
Kayla has been an important part of our operations support team since 2015. Her background in military security forces coupled with her exceptional skills in our application processing and data collection efforts is extremely valuable to our organization. Outside of work, Kayla is dedicated to her children and enjoys reading and gardening. She is also deeply committed to the idea of giving second chances to those in need.

Education Director/Operations Manager
Melodie Truluck
Melodie Truluck, Co-Founder and Operations Manager at SHIELD Ministries since January 2015. Melodie previously served as a volunteer in operations support from 2007 until 2015. Melodie is a founding Board of Directors Member. With over 30 years of nonprofit, 43 years of Business and Management experience, including higher education, Melodie develops operational system processes, data management, accounting and financial management, and direct program services for both pre and post-release programs. Melodie's passion is teaching men evidence-based truth about the ability to change thinking and choice patterns through forgiveness, neuroscience mind management, and by applying Christian Biblical Principles.

Program Housing Assistant
Jason Abate
Jayson is passionate about helping men grow spiritually through mentorship during difficult life experiences. Jayson began mentoring and served faithfully in a men's Bible study at his former church in New York. Jayson's background includes graphic design and animation creation. He is a former student and intern at the Adventure Learning Centre Patmos Disciple Program in the Bahamas. Jayson has over 20 years of experience in food service. Jayson and his wife Jennifer are dedicated intercessors and have relocated to South Carolina to join the SHIELD Ministries Team.

Volunteer Pre-release Lead Faculty & Advisor
Tom Pace
Tom Pace is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and has over 40 years of experience working in management positions in engineering, sales, and construction of pollution control and energy management projects. Since retiring Tom has put his energies into volunteer activities including disaster rebuilding, affordable home construction, feeding the homeless, ministering to seafarers, and providing services to veterans. Tom's passion is prison ministry and serves as a volunteer for SHIELD Ministries as our Pre-release Lead Faculty & Advisor.

General Assistant
David Lampley
David, a graduate of SHIELD Ministries in 2019, exemplifies a true servant's heart. Since joining us in 2017, he has dedicated himself to various roles, including transportation and food pantry services, always stepping in wherever help is needed. His unwavering commitment and selflessness make him an invaluable member of our SHIELD Team. We are grateful for his contributions and the positive impact he continues to make.

Sheriff Ray Nash (Retired)
Ray Nash, Law Enforcement Veteran and International Trainer, began his 40+ year career as a dispatcher in high school. Former Police Chief in Irmo and Summerville, SC. Served three terms as Sheriff of Dorchester County. Advised police reform in Afghanistan. Founded Police Dynamics Institute and trained over 15,000 officers worldwide. Certified polygraph examiner and Director of Police Dynamics Training Center in Charleston, SC.

Brent Bice
Brent, BA Philosophy from Templeton Honors College, worked as Content Editor, then in communications consulting. M.Ed. Multicultural Education. 9 years teaching English/Journalism. Now in financial planning at Modern Woodmen of America. Active in organizing social events and community service.

Kevin Woodman
Kevin Woodman, President of Grace RE Development, Akron, OH. Specializes in mixed-use projects, hotels, and retail. Rochester Institute of Technology graduate in Civil Engineering. Active in Prison Ministry and church leadership. Married to Cyndi, with 3 children. Spending most time in Charleston.

Sharon Dimuro
Sharon A. DiMuro is passionate about ministering healing and truth through God’s word. A retired family law attorney and former adjunct professor in communications, Sharon now serves through the Sozo healing ministry, helping individuals find freedom and restoration. With years of legal and academic experience, she brings discernment and grace to those in need of spiritual and emotional healing. Sharon also partners with church leadership to support ongoing discipleship and prayer initiatives.

Melodie Truluck
Melodie Truluck Co-founder of SHIELD Ministries has served as a founding Board Member since 2009 when SHIELD Ministries received its nonprofit status. Melodie served as a volunteer from 2007 through 2015 serving in operation and program systems development and has been employed with SHIELD since 2015.

Julia Martin
Julia, Interim CEO of ATI, former CFO of ATI (Advanced Technologies International), previously CFO at SCRA. College of Charleston graduate in Accounting and Business Management. Active in Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and Charleston Southern University Board. Long-time supporter of SHIELD Ministries.

John Matthews
Deacon Matthews, a U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Veteran, retired from the Air Force Reserves. Native of NYC, served across the U.S., including Alaska. Worked for Xerox and CUNA Mutual Group. Deacon at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church since 1973. Pre-release Volunteer.

Karl Brady Jr.
Karl Brady Jr., CFRE and CNP holder, with an MS in Nonprofit Management and pursuing EdD in Leadership. Experienced in nonprofits and government standards, Karl has strong technical writing skills for grants and campaigns. Karl L. Brady, Jr. is the Charleston City Councilmember for District 5, representing Outer West Ashley and Johns Island.

Joshua Drago
Josh is passionate to see the hearts of men set free from shame and addiction. An active leader in ministering to men, Josh’s efforts in teaching and discipling men are founded on his own journey from addiction to freedom. Author of The Field Guide to Freedom, Josh helps lead a recovery ministry named Pure Desire Ministries, which is wholly devoted to helping men and women heal from the pain of unwanted sexual behavior. Josh also brings a wealth of experience in business development, project leadership, and consulting.
